Dovetail makes seamlessly stitching ad content into your podcast episodes sound easy, but in reality, it needs a little help from you to make the magic happen. Follow the steps below to designate the number and sequence for the ad zones for your podcast.
Prerequisites
- You feel at least semi-comfortable with podcast advertising jargon
- You’ve set-up the basics of your podcast in Dovetail Inventory
- You have determined a show structure for your podcast
Step 1 - Log in to Dovetail Inventory and select Series from the menu at the top of the page.
Step 2 - Select your show and navigate to the placements tab on the left side of the page.
Step 3 - Review each ad section available and adjust each placement as needed based on the number and sequence you’d like to be an option for your show.
Use the + and - buttons to select the number of each zone you’d like to be available per ad section.
For example, if you want two house ad zones and one paid ad zone per midroll placement in your show, configure the Midroll Placement(s) section as follows:
To arrange the sequence for the zones within a section, use the handle to drag and drop each zone into your desired placement.
Pro Tip: Your Preroll placements will play before your first episode segment by default. If you’d like to introduce your episode before any ad content plays, select that you’d like your preroll placement to show up “after the first segment.”
Step 4 - Preview your ad placements by clicking on 'Preview.'
Step 5 - When you have configured everything to your liking, click 'Update' in the upper right corner.
Your ad placements are now available for you to flight ads or set ad breaks via timestamps on Dovetail.
