Understanding Spots Statuses

When you run campaigns in Dovetail Spots, each spot will display a status to let you know whether it is currently active, completed, or canceled. This helps you keep track of performance and manage your cross-promos effectively.

Dovetail Spots is organized into multiple tabs, each with its own set of statuses. Below is a breakdown of the meanings of each status.

Active Spots

Statuses here indicate whether a swap is ready to run, needs attention, or cannot be scheduled.

  • Needs Creative – The spot is missing the creative (script or audio file). Uploading creative is required before the swap can run.
  • Ready – The spot has the information and approval needed to run on its scheduled time.
  • Inventory Error – The podcast is not configured in Dovetail Inventory, so a cross-promo cannot be scheduled.

Draft

Statuses here reflect the setup and approval stage of a swap.

  • New – A new swap request has been created.
  • Rejected – The swap has been rejected.
  • Needs Their Approval – The swap is pending approval by the producer.

Past

Statuses here show the outcome of swaps that have already ended.

  • Completed – The swap has finished its scheduled run.
  • Canceled – The swap was canceled after it was approved.

Settings

  • Enabled – The podcast is enabled to use Dovetail Spots.
  • Disabled – The podcast is not enabled to use Dovetail Spots.

👉 Tip: If you see Needs Creative or Inventory Error, your swap will not run until the issue is resolved.
