When submitting your feed to Spotify, make sure to update the Licensor/Hosting Provider field to Public Radio Exchange in Spotify for Podcasters. This is required to enable passthrough compliance for your podcast.
Passthrough compliance is a technical setting enabled by Spotify that allows for data (think download metrics and your dynamic ad content) to flow freely between Dovetail and Spotify.
This update allows Spotify to send your download data to Dovetail Metrics.
⚠️ If you skip this step, Spotify won’t send any analytics to Dovetail, meaning no Spotify data in your metrics dashboard!
You definitely don’t want that (and neither do we). The good news? Selecting your Licensor/Hosting Provider is part of the feed submission process, so you’ll be prompted to make the update as you go.
- Log in using your Spotify for Podcasters account.
- Click on your user icon and select Add a new show.
- Click on Find an Existing Show.
- When prompted to select where your feed is hosted, select Somewhere else.
- Add your RSS Feed and click Next.
- Click Send Code and click Next.
- Spotify will send a verification email to the address listed in your RSS feed. Enter it and click Next.
- Add details about your podcast as required.
- IMPORTANT: Under Licensor/Hosting Provider, select Public Radio Exchange from the dropdown list.
- Review your information and click Submit.
🚀 That’s it!
Most shows appear on Spotify within a few hours, but it can take up to 24 hours.
🆘 If you submitted your feed and didn’t add Public Radio Exchange as Licensor/Hosting Provider, you can update the information in Spotify by following the instructions in this support article.
