There's an "error processing" symbol on my audio file. What now?

Ack, the dreaded RED X.

When you get an error processing, we send you an email notification with more specifics about why your file is bad. Reminder: currently you can only upload an MP2 to PRX.

An error processing either means you are uploading the wrong type of file or your original file does not have the correct specifications. You should be starting with a 16 bit integer WAV or AIFF file and converting that file to an MP2 using the Hindenburg PRX Encoder

These are the ideal specs for a PRX file:

  • MP2 file
  • Sample rate: 44.1 kHz
  • Stereo file (recommended)
  • Bit rate: 128 kbps per channel.
    • If you decide to create a mono MP2, it will be 128 kbps in total. But if you create a stereo (or joint stereo) MP2, the resulting file will be 256 kbps (128 kbps for each channel) in total.

If you continue to have trouble, just let us know at help@prx.org
