If you have set-up a new flight to run on your show and are hearing it everywhere, but Spotify - then chances are good your show isn’t set-up to be Passthrough Compliant with Spotify.
Passthrough compliance is a technical setting enabled by Spotify that allows for data (think download metrics and your dynamic ad content) to flow freely between Dovetail and Spotify.
Without passthrough compliance enabled, your feed will be cached by Spotify and will replay from that cached version - essentially keeping your feed frozen in time - with no new dynamic content reaching your Spotify listeners or Spotify download metrics being tracked in Dovetail.
To ensure that passthrough compliance is set-up for your show on the Spotify platform you'll need to update your Licensor/Hosting Provider in Spotify to Public Radio Exchange. |
Steps to Update Your Hosting Provider for Existing Shows in Spotify:
- Log in to your account at Spotify for Podcasters.
- From the left-hand sidebar, select the show you want to update.
- Click on Settings (the gear icon near the bottom of the sidebar).
- Under Licensor/Hosting Provider, click Update.
- Enter your current RSS feed URL (you’ll need this to proceed).
- Under Confirm Hosting Provider, select Public Radio Exchange from the dropdown menu.
- Click Next, then Submit.
