Automated delivery is easy to use, saves time, and is a cost-effective way to deliver your shows to stations. Available for approved weekly, hourly, or daily series on PRX, this service is designed for shows to deliver their regular content so that stations can get it automatically.
Automated delivery is free for all CSG and NFCB stations to distribute their content through the Public Media Infrastructure (PMI) Grant.
Benefits and Requirements of Automated Delivery
Automated delivery supports flexible episode structures and predictable scheduling, making it easier for stations to receive and air your content.
Promos
- Episodes can include promos delivered with or ahead of the episode audio.
- To ensure accurate delivery, you must specify how many promo files to expect and their total runtime.
Episode Audio
- Each episode must include at least one audio segment.
- Episodes may be delivered as a single file or split into multiple segments (for example: billboard, news hole, segments, music breaks).
- Some programs choose to upload multiple versions of an episode, such as a segmented version and a single-file version.
Production Schedule
- Frequency: Automated delivery is available for daily, weekly, and hourly series. Automated delivery should not be used for limited-run series, shows with inconsistent publishing schedules, or one-off specials.
- Availability window: You must specify the day and time your episode will be available for stations to air.
- Episodes must be uploaded to PRX at least 11 hours before the station's air window opens.
Evergreen Piece
- You can upload a new evergreen or designate an existing episode as an evergreen.
- If a scheduled episode cannot be delivered, the evergreen piece can be sent to subscribers instead.
Agreements
- Carriage agreement terms: Standard PRX terms required for all subscribing stations. These terms cannot be edited.
- Additional series terms: Any additional conditions or production notes specific to your series. This information is displayed to stations during the subscription process.
‼️Important Notes About Automated Delivery‼️
- PRX points system: Series using automated delivery cannot participate in the PRX points system.
- Station carriage fees: PRX is not responsible for billing stations for any carriage fees associated with your series.
- Free distribution to CSG and NFCB stations: Automated delivery is free for CSG and NFCB stations only to distribute your content, but this does not cover any carriage fees for content your station is subscribed to.
