PRX Distribution Services for Stations

PRX Exchange

With Exchange, stations can:

  • Search thousands of stories, specials, and series
  • License content
  • Manage subscriptions and content purchases
  • Access station account and membership tools

Automated Delivery

Automated Delivery allows producers to distribute regularly scheduled series directly to subscribing stations, ensuring new episodes are delivered automatically as they become available.

Many weekly series distributed through PRX use Automated Delivery for content delivery.

Understanding Memberships

Stations that subscribe to PRX-represented shows, license content through PRX Exchange, or use PRX distribution services generally need a PRX membership.

Memberships require a yearly fee and can be billed either quarterly or annually, depending on the station's preference.

For current membership rates and fee information, please contact membership@prx.org.

Finding Programming

PRX offers a wide range of independent audio programming and public media content.

You can discover content through:

* Please note that licensing terms vary by series. Some series are available free of charge, while others may require a carriage fee or the use of station points. Licensing terms are determined by the producer or distributor of each series. If you have questions about fees, carriage requirements, or licensing terms, please contact the producer or distributor listed on the series page.

Managing Your Station Account

Each staff member should have their own PRX account.

To add a staff member to your station account, follow the instructions here

Users who need permission to subscribe or license content, or manage station settings, should be assigned an Admin role.

Understanding PRX Points

PRX uses a points-based system for licensing certain content.

Your station's annual point package is determined using:

  • Total Station Revenue (TSR)
  • Estimated annual content usage

Important things to know:

  • Point packages renew annually on July 1.
  • Unused points do not roll over.
  • Points cannot be used to pay carriage fees for Automated Delivery series.

If your station needs a points package or you have questions about your current balance, contact membership@prx.org.

Subscribe vs. License

One of the most common questions new stations ask is the difference between subscribing to a series and licensing content.

Subscribe License
Ongoing series delivered through Automated Delivery Individual story, episode, or non-subscribable series
May require a carriage fee May require PRX Points
New episodes delivered automatically Content is licensed and downloaded manually
